www.ahhrgy.comChina has many outstanding water conservancy experts, the world needs to hear the voice of Chinese experts, learn from China's experience in water conservancy and hydropower. The development of China's water conservancy undertakings should not only be brought in but also go out. Chinese water conservancy experts should become the leaders of the world's water conservancy undertakings. On the evening of the 2018 Chinese Government Friendship Award ceremony, the reporter met Christopher Bryan George, Executive Director of the International Institute of Water Conservancy and Environmental Engineering. The Beige suit was elegant, well-lined and capable. George, 66, said he had no idea how many times he came to China. George, with nearly 40 years of research and experience in water conservancy, first came to China in 1977 and was attracted by the ancient Chinese culture. He has visited China many times since he served as executive director of the international society for water conservancy and environmental engineering. In 2015, he actively promoted the relocation of the core functions of the International Water Conservancy and Environmental Engineering Institute headquarters to Beijing, and made major contributions to the accumulation of management experience of international organizations and more participation in the core work of international organizations in China's water conservancy industry. "20 years ago, Chinese people seldom attended international conferences. But now, there are Chinese delegations at various international conferences, and on this basis, Chinese experts should enhance their leadership. George told reporters that China has many experience worthy of pride in dam projects and water control. "Many Chinese now speak English, research institutes and colleges have better economic conditions to organize international conferences and events, and the outside world is looking forward to the Chinese people doing more. To this end, China should play a more important role in the world's water conservancy construction. When the 2013 Lushan earthquake struck, George recalled, a specialist in the management of China's dammed lakes was outstanding, and he recommended that the specialist serve in important international organizations to share China's experience. George said many Chinese water conservancy experts are excellent. ?He helped to recommend a number of water conservancy experts from China to serve on the council, regional branches, technical committees and periodical editorial committees of the International Society of Water and Environmental Engineering. He recommended Chinese experts to be the highest honorary lifelong members of the International Society of Water and Environmental Engineering and promoted Chinese water conservancy workers to work with the world in water conservancy. Communication. "Reform and opening up is a very wise thing, because the world is the same world, no country can not cooperate with the outside world." George believed that reform and opening up brought opportunities to China's rapid development and promoted the world's understanding of China. "China is strong and shows willingness to cooperate with other countries. I hope more Chinese water conservancy engineers will communicate with the outside world more. There may be boundaries in other areas, but water has no boundaries. " George stressed that all countries need to learn from each other, work together and develop together. In recent years, China has paid more attention to the assessment of the impact of water conservancy projects on the environment, from the pursuit of large-scale water conservancy projects to environmental friendly change, George agreed with this approach: "In this respect, China can learn more from foreign experience and practice." He also stressed that it is also important to strengthen public education and let the public cherish water resources.
